Gemart Services is the exclusive dealer for the Vargas Pol-A-Gem laps which were hailed as a major step forward in gemstone polishing and set the standard for the finest oxide polishes possible. Cerium Oxide and Aluminum Oxide are acknowledged to achieve the highest polish possible on most gem species.

Gemart Services was started by Jeremy Newman in 1990 to provide custom cutting and repair service to local jewelers and collectors. Jeremy learned the craft of faceting from the world- famous and highly regarded Glenn and Martha Vargas who happened to live only a short distance from his home. For more than 15 years regular faceting workshops were held with Glenn and Martha. The Vargas's co-authored the most famous and popular book ever written about faceting… “Faceting for Amateurs” along with four additional design and description books.

Jerry's professional background was in engineering and metallurgy. He was a pioneer in the Titanium industry in which he spent more than a 40 year career. He was instrumental in developing the alloy formulation and mill processing procedures for the titanium that was used in the SR71 aircraft in the 1960's and after that he was involved in market development and executive management until his retirement.

Jerry's background with earth sciences and “stones” covers almost 60 years of rock hounding, lapidary work- i.e. cabs, spheres, gold casting, etc..and collecting and mining anytime he had a chance.
